April 29 :
Those in the Telugu diaspora have started a petition to get an Air India nonstop service between Hyderabad, India, and Dallas, Texas, USA.
Due to the absence of direct flight connections, a large number of Indians living in Texas have to endure extra-long layovers in Europe or the Middle East, which significantly lengthens their journey time.

The Indian government has asked Air India to begin direct flights between Dallara and Hyderabad. Asian nation. There is a concentration of Telugu speakers in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and the neighbouring regions. At least half of the 400 thousand Indians living in Dallas-Fort Worth are Telugu speakers. A petition started by Venkat Mulukutla of Frisco, Texas, states as follows: "Every year, a large number of Telugu students come to Dallas to study, and a large number of Telugu people, including elderly parents, travel to live with their children."

Since places like Doha and Dubai are around four to five hours away from India, Mulukutla thinks it would be better if Air India offered a nonstop service instead. With over 4,500 signatures, the petition is officially underway.

Travellers from all walks of life, including students, families, and businesspeople, would benefit from the direct route, according to those who signed the petition. People from the surrounding Indian diaspora in areas like Austin and Houston also thought a direct route would be great.

At the moment, five American cities—New York, Newark (New Jersey), Washington, DC, Chicago, and San Francisco—are served directly by Air India. There were rumours earlier this year that the airline may begin service from Indian towns to Seattle, Los Angeles, and Dallas in the winter of 2024-25. But there's been no formal word yet.
