Blood Oxygen feature returns to Apple Watch with new changes.

After an 18-month absence due to a patent dispute, Apple has brought back the Blood Oxygen feature for Apple Watch users in the U.S. To enable this, the company will release new updates — iOS 18.6.1 and watchOS 11.6.1.
The new feature will be available on Apple Watch Series 10, Series 9, and Ultra 2 models. Instead of calculating blood oxygen levels directly on the watch, the measurements will now be processed on the paired iPhone. The results will be available only in the Health app on the iPhone. The update will also allow continuous background monitoring of blood oxygen levels.
Apple said the change follows U.S. Customs approval to import products with the redesigned feature. Previously, an import ban had been imposed on Apple Watch models with the Blood Oxygen feature due to the patent dispute. Apple’s appeal against the ban is still ongoing. The company also clarified that watches purchased outside the U.S., or those with the original feature, will not be affected by this change.
