Ryo Tatsuki's tsunami prediction shook Japan; a heavy blow to the tourism sector; loss estimated at ₹30,000 crore.

Japan, one of the countries most prone to earthquakes in the world, has been economically shaken by a tsunami prediction that spread through social media. A rumor claiming that a massive tsunami would strike on July 5 caused significant financial losses to the nation. Even though the government clarified that the prediction had no scientific basis, it failed to calm public fears.
The prediction sparked concern during Japan’s peak tourist season, when travelers typically flock to see the blooming cherry blossoms. Due to the tsunami scare, flights to Japan were cancelled. The number of tourists traveling from Hong Kong to Japan dropped by 90%. Recent seismic activity in the eastern region further intensified the public's anxiety.
On social media, it was widely claimed that Tatsuki’s book "Future I Saw" had accurately predicted both the COVID-19 outbreak and the 2011 earthquake that killed 20,000 people in Japan. The Japanese government now hopes that if the day passes peacefully, the crisis will come to an end.
