₹20 Crore Debt: Seven-Member Family Dies by Mass Suicide in Panchkula After Consuming Poison During Spiritual Trip

Panchkula, Haryana: A seven-member family allegedly died by suicide in Panchkula, Haryana, reportedly due to a debt of ₹20 crore. The deceased have been identified as Praveen Mittal (50), his wife Prabha Mittal (47), their children Namita (20), Rishik (15), Swag (10), and parents Kishori Lal (75) and Sushma Mittal (72). Preliminary reports suggest the family consumed poison while returning from a visit to Bageshwar Dham on Monday night.
All seven were found inside a locked car parked outside a house in Sector 27. Locals noticed the family members in distress inside the vehicle and alerted the police. The police arrived at the scene, broke open the car doors, and rushed the unconscious family members to the hospital, but they could not be saved.
Praveen Mittal had suffered heavy financial losses in recent years, losing his factory and other properties. A suicide note was recovered, in which he requested his cousin, Sandeep Agarwal, to perform the last rites. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
