BREAKING NEWS: Trump’s new executive order gives drug companies 30 days to cut prices — or face major action.

Taking to his account on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Drug prices will be lowered by 59%.”

President Donald Trump has signed a sweeping executive order giving pharmaceutical companies 30 days to reduce prescription drug prices in the United States — or face exceptionally strict government-imposed price limits.

The directive aims to realign U.S. drug costs with those in other countries by curbing what the administration calls "unfair discounts" negotiated by foreign governments.

If drugmakers fail to comply, the U.S. government will invoke a “Most Favored Nation” pricing rule, setting domestic prices to match the lowest offered in peer nations.

The order goes far beyond previous initiatives, applying to a broad range of drugs across Medicare, Medicaid, and the commercial market.

While critics have called the move a form of price control, Trump argued that the current system is already rigged in favor of pharmaceutical companies. The White House says this is a step toward ending the longstanding global pricing imbalance, where Americans foot a disproportionate share of the bill. Legal challenges are expected, but the administration signaled readiness to escalate the fight if prices don’t fall quickly.
