In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, India continues to tighten measures against Pakistan. India has also reduced the water flow to Pakistan. The shutters of the Baglihar Dam on the Chenab River have been lowered. Following the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, India is moving forward with short-, medium-, and long-term measures.
As part of the short-term action, the shutters were lowered at the Baglihar Dam to reduce the flow of water to Pakistan. This move by India will directly affect Pakistan's Punjab province, where agriculture depends on the water received from Baglihar. Reports indicate that India may also lower the shutters of the Kishanganga Dam on the Jhelum River.
Meanwhile, India has blocked imports from Pakistan. The import of goods from Pakistan into the country, the transit of products through Pakistan, and the export of Pakistani goods to other countries via India have all been prohibited.
