'This is a long-term plan, a strong desire to return to the old life'; Usha Vance

Usha Vance, the wife of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, opened up about her new role and personal aspirations. She stated that her former life as a lawyer was very dear to her, and she had big dreams beyond working at a firm. While she currently enjoys the position of Second Lady, Usha Vance dreams of one day returning to the home in Cincinnati she shared with her husband and three children before he became Vice President. She says that this is their "long-term plan."

She also pointed out that quitting her job brought certain benefits. She now has time to read long books and has developed a consistent fitness routine.

Usha Vance openly stated that she faces the tough challenges of public life with indifference. She left her job at a top-tier law firm after her husband was elected Vice President, having previously served as a law clerk for Chief Justice John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh. With an Indian-American background and Hindu faith, Usha Vance is the nation's first non-white Second Spouse. The millennial couple, who met at Yale Law School and married in 2014, have three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.

Usha Vance treats the criticisms regarding their interfaith marriage, religion, and the rumors about marital issues with indifference. She explained that they take the discussions about her not wearing her wedding ring lightheartedly, and that she prefers to live in the 'real world.' News had previously surfaced that her husband expressed a desire for her to convert to Catholicism. As Second Lady, her main area of focus will be literacy, and she added that she is inspired by the working style of former First Lady Melania Trump.
