FOMAA Capital Region Honors Convention Coordinator Lenji Jacob with Outstand Community Service Recognition

Bethesda, Maryland—On Sunday, April 21, 2024, the Federation of Malayalee Associations of
Americas (FOMAA) Capital Region recognized Lenji Jacob from the Kairali of Baltimore for his
“Outstanding Community Service to Capital Area Malyalees.” Lenji Jacob, FOMAA Capital
Region Convention Coordinator, was recognized at the FOMAA International Convention kick-
off event at the Westland Middle School, located at 5511 Massachusetts Ave, Bethesda,
Maryland.


Lenji Jacob has been emerging in the Malayali community for his exemplary leadership and
contributions. From community engagement to public service and artistic endeavors, Lenji's
journey is one of multifaceted excellence. Lenji’s entry into community service began with
pivotal roles in organizations like Kairali of Baltimore, where he served as Secretary and Public
Relations chair, fostering community bonds and organizational efficiency. His commitment to
enriching cultural experiences continued with his participation in the Entertainment
committees of KAGW.


After being announced by FOMAA Capital Region Former RVP and Judicial Council member
Thomas Jose as the recipient of the FOMAA Capital Region Outstanding Community Service
Recognition to Lenji Jacob, Lenji was introduced by FOMAA Capital Region Advisory Board
Member Bijo Vithayathil. The FOMAA President, Dr. Jacob Thomas, presented the Community
Service Award to Lenji Jacob for his outstanding service to FOMAA Capital Region Malayalees.
Dr. Madhu Nambiar, FOMAA Capital Region RVP, congratulated Lenji for his excellent
community service and unwavering support. National Committee members Mathew Varghese
from the Kairali of Baltimore and Rajeev Sukumarn from the Kerala Cultural Society also
appreciated Lenji’s contributions.


As the FOMAA Capital Region National Convention Coordinator, Lenji encourages and tries to
bring a maximum number of families to the convention. Many capital region members already
registered for the convention. As a leader, he has coordinated and orchestrated many
successful events that celebrate Malayali heritage and strengthen community ties. Because of
his expertise, community members seek help from Lenji whenever they need it.
As a filmmaker, Lenji’s works have captivated audiences and earned accolades at local and
international film festivals. His latest film, honored with the Spirit Award at the KAGW Film
Festival and the Best Social Message Award at the GOA Film Festival, reflects his commitment
to addressing pressing social issues through the lens of art. Lenji's published photography
captures the world's beauty with finesse and artistry, further showcasing his creativity. His
parents, Jacob Paulose and Leea Jacob, as well as his spouse, Jilu Lenji, support him strongly in
his cultural activities.


The district government honored him with the Office of Chief Financial Officer Award,
recognizing his unwavering dedication to financial stewardship. His nomination for the

prestigious One-City Mayoral Award underscores his profound impact on the local community.
In his current role managing budgets for the Office of Inspector General, Lenji ensures
transparency and accountability, exemplifying professionalism at every turn.
As Lenji continues to make strides in community service, Lenji's unwavering passion and
dedication promise greater achievements in the future.
