Air India's $400 million logo change! Part of transformation

The vibrant new livery design and emblem are both a part of a significant upgrade of Air India. The airline, which was acquired by Tata Group last year, wants to compete with top airlines like Etihad, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, and others for global market share in aviation.

"Colors, patterns, shapes, how they are put together, and what they stand are important, but our actions speak much louder," the author writes. The CEO of Air India, Campbell Wilson, stated in a statement, "We are in the midst of a thorough change to rethink the role of India's flagship airline.

"The new Air India is bold, confident, and vibrant, but it's also warm and firmly rooted in its rich history and traditions, which make Indian hospitality a global benchmark for standards in service," says the airline.

Air India Sans, a unique custom font included in the revamp, will now be utilized throughout the brand.

Chakras served as inspiration for the tail fin design.

And the redesign involves more than simply gleaming new paint. In addition to purchasing 470 new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, Air India also announced that it would start modernizing and repairing older aircraft by installing new seats, Wi-Fi, and improved in-flight entertainment systems.

Along with new aircraft, Air India has also revealed plans to develop new lounges for its hubs at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport and New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport, as well as to launch a 24/7 customer service phone network with nine different language options.

Additionally, the airline claims that in 2024, it would "completely redesign it's loyalty program. The Star Alliance, which also consists of Air Canada, United Airlines, and Lufthansa, includes Air India.

The revamp of Air India follows a string of unpleasant headlines.

The airline received criticism from India's aviation watchdog earlier this year for its inadequate response to on-board incidents, including one in which a male passenger urinated on a female passenger while she was sleeping.
