Dayton, OH, March 11, 2022: Dr. Satheesh Kathula, an acclaimed Ohio doctor, community leader, and philanthropist with a great record of serving in leadership roles in the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), is running for Vice President in the organization's election this month.

Dr. Kathula, a hematologist/oncologist, is the current Secretary of National AAPI and was previously the Treasurer. As indicated by the amount of endorsements he has gotten, he is well-liked among the ranks and files of AAPI.

On his campaign website, he has outlined his vision for AAPI:

AAPI's purpose of education, excellence in patient care, research, and professionalism should be promoted.

AAPI membership should be increased, and membership perks should be improved. Increase your engagement with the younger generation.

Collaborate with leading medical organisations in the United States.

Green cards for Indian doctors on H1 visas should be processed quickly.

At the legislative level, use the power of 100,000 Indian American doctors.

Dr. Kathula describes himself as a 13-year AAPI foot soldier, although he has previously held critical positions, including Co-Chair of AAPI's Global Health Summit 2019 and 2022, Board of Trustees (2014-17), and Regional Director (2012-14).

Last year, as AAPI Treasurer, he was instrumental in raising and distributing more over $5.5 million for Covid relief in India. He is also the Chair of the Adopt a Village Committee, a programme that began last year with the adoption of 75 villages in India for free non-communicable disease screening.

Endorsements for him have been pouring in like rain. "I have worked with him on various oncology-related initiatives," adds Dr. Dattatteyudu Nori, a prominent radiation oncologist and Padma Shri awardee. He is a very efficient, well-informed, and capable leader. He'd be an excellent AAPI Vice President."

"This is not merely an election for Vice President, but for President of AAPI!" remarked former AAPI President Dr. Sanku Rao. Satheesh has a great reputation in the organisation and possesses all of the attributes necessary to become one of AAPI's top presidents!"

Dr. Kathula has also excelled in senior positions in the medical industry in Ohio. He is a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (Dayton Chapter) Board of Trustees and has raised more than $200,000 for the organisation. In 2018, the society awarded him the Man of the Year honour.

He was essential in gathering funding for the development of the Om Shanti Hindu Cultural Center in Dayton, where he was active in the Indian community. He participates in Veterans Obesity Awareness Walks and Ekal Vidyalaya on a regular basis. In 2010, the India Club of Dayton honoured him with the Service Award.

In 2007, he founded a pharmacy college in Warangal, Telangana, where he grew up, to show his love for his motherland. The non-profit Pathfinder Institute of Pharmacy and Educational Research (PIPER) delivers high-quality education and has previously graduated approximately 750 students. During the Covid epidemic, Dr. Kathula organised a one-thousand-mask shipment to India, as well as various medical camps. To his native hamlet in Telangana, he personally gave a clean drinking water plant and a defibrillator. Music concerts and golf tournaments, such as the one he organised with cricket icon Kapil Dev, are mainly how he generates funds for humanitarian organisations.

To pass on his knowledge, abilities, and experience to the future generation of physicians, a successful doctor must also be an educator. Dr. Kathula is an Internal Medicine and Neurology Clinical Professor at Wright State University in Dayton. For the past two decades, he has been teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows. He has given CME talks at conferences and has works published in peer-reviewed journals. Akshar and Aneesh, his two sons, are both studying to be doctors.

Dr. Kathula graduated from Siddhartha Medical College in Vijayawada, India, in 1994 and moved to the United States. At Wright State University in Dayton, he completed his residency. Dayton Physicians, LLC, has him as a partner physician.
