Tokyo stocks open lower

Tokyo, Oct 31: Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday as Wall Street was pressured at the end of last week by a new investigation concerning US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 54.81 points, or 0.31 per cent, from Friday to 17,391.60, Xinhua news agency reported.
The lackluster industrial production data here also added to a lackluster market mood.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 2.86 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 1,389.55.
Notable issues that lost ground early on comprised mining, glass and ceramic product and rubber product-linked stocks.
