Ukraine seeks to increase agricultural trade with US
Kiev, Oct 7: Ukraine is seeking ways to bolster its economic and trade cooperation with the United States in the agricultural sector, the Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry said in a statement.
"We are interested in simplifying access of some Ukrainian agricultural goods to the US market, expanding the range of Ukrainian agricultural exports and further deepening the bilateral cooperation between our countries," Ukraine's Deputy Agriculture Minister, Olga Trofimtseva said on Thursday.
Ukraine is willing to boost its collaboration with the US in the area of quality control of agricultural products and food safety, Trofimtseva added.
Ukraine's official statistics showed, the agricultural trade turnover between Ukraine and the US increased by 6.3 per cent year-on-year to $127.5 million in January-July of 2016.
Out of the total trade volume, Ukraine's exports stood at about $20.8 million, down 22.7 per cent on a yearly basis.
