Can continue with metal from INS Vikrant for some time: Narang
Kolkata, March 7: Two wheeler maker Bajaj Auto is working on a number of units of 150cc V brand bikes in which metal from INS Vikrant - Indian navy's legendary aircraft carrier - could be used, but is confident that they would be able to continue with the brand carrying metal of the dismantled aircraft carrier for "some time", said a top official.
"It is difficult to give a number right now but we are hopeful that we would be able to continue for some time.
"We as a brand will continue and of course, metal is finite. We are still working on that. Some amount of metals is usable and some cannot be usable," said the company's motorcycle business vice president, marketing, Sumeet Narang.
"We should be able to sell close to 50,000 units of this bike nationally in the next 12-18 months," he told the media here on the launch of the brand here.
He declined to reveal how much scrapped metal the company bought from the discarded aircraft carrier.
