KHNA Protests Peter Navarro’s Anti-India, Anti-Brahmin Remarks

In a joint statement, the official leadership of KHNA strongly condemned and demanded correction of the anti-India and racially charged remarks made by Peter Navarro, Senior Trade Advisor to President Trump, in connection with the U.S.-declared tariff war against several nations, including India, and India’s purchase of crude oil from Russia.
In a special interview given to Fox News, Navarro alleged—falsely and irresponsibly—that Brahmins are profiteering at the expense of the Indian people by purchasing crude oil from Russia at discounted prices. KHNA pointed out that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, nor the heads of companies engaged in oil trade in any way represent the Brahmin community. Furthermore, India’s political and economic power structure does not operate under any form of caste dominance. Navarro’s remarks, ignoring these realities, appear designed only to incite hatred, racism, and divisiveness among the Indian public.
KHNA further stated that such attempts to apply the divisive strategies once used by colonial rulers to weaken Indian unity should never be projected against India from abroad. They called upon Navarro to acknowledge and correct his serious error. Statements of this nature, KHNA emphasized, only attempt to pull India backward at a time when the nation is progressing forward in unity, rising above caste and religious barriers.
KHNA has formally reported this objectionable remark to the U.S. government by email and also urged other Indian organizations to register their protest.
Finally, the leadership appealed to the Indo-American community, which desires strong bilateral friendship between the two nations in socio-economic and diplomatic spheres, to stand united in rejecting such divisive and misleading statements.
The joint statement was issued by KHNA President T. Unnikrishnan, General Secretary Sinu Nair, Treasurer Ashok Menon, Vice President Sanjeev Kumar, Joint Secretary Sreekumar Harilal, and Joint Treasurer Appukuttan Pillai.
