Aviation expert Captain Steve has made a crucial revelation regarding the cause of the Air India Flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad, which claimed 270 lives. According to his conclusion, the disaster occurred because both engines of the aircraft failed. He pointed out in a YouTube video that the deployment of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) during the incident is proof of this failure.
What is a Ram Air Turbine (RAT)?
Normally, when an aircraft's main engines fail or the electrical system completely shuts down, a small turbine generator, known as the Ram Air Turbine (RAT), extends from the aircraft to generate emergency electricity and hydraulic power. This is an emergency mechanism. The deployment of the RAT is a clear indication of a serious engine or electrical failure in the aircraft, explained Captain Steve.
He also assessed that the aircraft climbing at a 12-degree angle before descending rapidly was due to this engine failure. The tragic accident occurred near the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on June 12. Captain Steve’s observations were made public even as the official investigation into the crash is ongoing.
