New York: Representative Jerry Nadler has called for a congressional investigation after a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officer handcuffed a staff member in his Manhattan office without a warrant. The incident occurred amid rising tensions over federal immigration enforcement under the Trump administration.
In the video footage, DHS officers can be heard claiming that the staffers were "harboring rioters." However, Nadler rejected these claims and accused DHS of using intimidation tactics. The action by DHS has drawn widespread criticism, with many calling it an abuse of power and an obstruction of democratic processes. Nadler is now demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.
