In the wake of the Jammu and Kashmir terrorist attack, indications suggest that a high-level security cabinet meeting will be convened tomorrow. The emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The focus of this high-level review will be the security situation following the Pahalgam terror attack.
In light of the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to India. He also skipped a banquet hosted by Saudi officials. Modi strongly condemned the terrorist attack, stating that those behind such a heinous act would be brought to justice and would not be spared.
Following the Prime Minister’s instructions, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Srinagar within hours. Shah assessed the security situation in consultation with top officials. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha are also attending the meeting. Amit Shah warned that those responsible for the attack, whoever they may be, should be prepared for consequences.
In the Pahalgam terrorist attack, 27 people lost their lives. Among the deceased were an Italian national and an Israeli national. Several others were injured. It was confirmed that the attack was carried out after identifying the victims as Hindus.
