Bollywood lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar responded to the controversy surrounding Mohanlal's offering at Sabarimala on behalf of actor Mammootty. He stated that people with a narrow mindset would not be able to understand the friendship between Mammootty and Mohanlal. Javed Akhtar shared his reaction via social media.

"I wish every Mammootty in India had a friend like Mohanlal. Likewise, every Mohanlal should have a friend like Mammootty. Their bond is a great friendship. Those with a narrow and negative mindset will not be able to grasp it. That is natural. But who cares?" - Javed Akhtar wrote on X.

Last week, Mohanlal visited Sabarimala and made an offering on behalf of Mammootty. Reports had circulated that Mammootty was unwell. During the visit, Mohanlal also made an offering for his wife, Suchitra.

The incident became a major news topic, and social media was filled with posts praising the friendship between the two actors. However, amidst this, O. Abdullah criticized the act, stating that if Mohanlal had performed the offering with Mammootty’s knowledge, he should repent. Samastha also came forward in support of this statement.
