A 15-year-old girl undergoing treatment for Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) at Kottayam Medical College Hospital has passed away. The deceased is Gauthami Praveen, daughter of Praveen and Ashwathi from Erumeli. Gauthami had been on a ventilator for over one and a half months. She was admitted to the medical college in critical condition.

According to Dr. Prashanth Kumar, Additional Professor of the Medicine Department, Gauthami had suffered a cardiac arrest during treatment but had initially survived it. She was a 10th-grade student at St. Mary's Girls High School, Kanjirappally. The funeral will be held today at 11 AM.

Last Monday, another patient from Vazhakulam, Muvattupuzha, who was undergoing treatment for GBS at Kottayam Medical College, had also passed away.
