Woman Lured into Empty Bus and Assaulted in Pune; Manhunt Underway for Accused
In a shocking incident at a bus depot in Pune, a 26-year-old woman waiting for a bus was lured into an empty vehicle and sexually assaulted. The crime took place at around 5:30 AM on Wednesday at the Swargate bus stand, barely 100 meters away from the nearest police station.

The accused has been identified as Dattatray Ramdas Gade, but he remains at large.

The woman had arrived at the bus stand early in the morning to travel to her home, approximately 100 kilometers away from Pune. The accused approached her, claiming that the bus she needed was parked elsewhere. Trusting him, she followed him to the location, where he instructed her to board a stationary Shivshahi bus belonging to the state transport corporation. Once inside, he brutally assaulted her.

After the assault, the woman reported the incident to the police. CCTV footage from the bus depot helped identify the accused. The police have formed eight teams to track him down.

Authorities have assured that the woman is in stable condition. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar condemning the crime as an "unforgivable act." He stated that the perpetrator deserves the harshest punishment, including the death penalty, and has instructed Pune’s police commissioner to personally oversee the investigation.
