An entire district lost their hair; The reason – wheat from the ration shop.

A shocking incident recently emerged from a village in Mumbai, where all the residents suddenly lost their hair. The people of Bondgaon, Kalwad, and Hingna in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district were in distress, unable to understand why their hair had completely fallen out overnight.

However, health experts have now identified the cause of this rare condition. The excessive presence of the element selenium was found to be responsible for the unusual hair loss among the residents of these villages. A study conducted by Dr. Himant Rao Bavaskar revealed that the blood, urine, and hair samples of those affected contained selenium levels ten times higher than the required amount.

According to Bavaskar’s study, the excessive selenium entered their bodies through wheat imported from Punjab and Haryana, which was distributed via local ration shops. The selenium content in this imported wheat was found to be 600 times higher than that in locally produced wheat.

Additionally, those who consumed this wheat were found to have lower levels of zinc in their bodies. This imbalance is believed to be the primary reason for the sudden hair loss. Selenium, a naturally occurring element in soil and water, is essential for human metabolism. However, an excess of it can lead to side effects such as severe hair loss.
