Woman Arrested for Snatching Elderly Woman’s Necklace After Covering Her Head with Cloth
A woman who snatched an elderly woman's necklace after covering her head with a cloth has been arrested. The accused, Usha, a former domestic worker, was caught within half an hour after committing the crime at the house of 84-year-old Mariyamma Xavier, a resident of Chandanapally, Pathanamthitta. Usha, a native of Idathitta, was apprehended by the Kodumon police based on clues provided by Mariyamma’s relatives and neighbors.
The incident occurred this morning. Mariyamma had opened the door, assuming the visitor was her usual domestic help. However, Usha barged in, covered Mariyamma’s face with a cloth, and swiftly snatched her gold necklace before fleeing. Mariyamma was initially unable to identify the thief.
A crucial lead in the case came when one of Mariyamma’s relatives, who was at a nearby house, saw Usha walking away from the scene. Based on this information, the police traced Usha to her home, where they recovered Mariyamma’s stolen 3.5-sovereign gold necklace.
