Clash Between CPI(M) and Locals Over Palakkad Road Inauguration
A conflict erupted between CPI(M) members and local residents over the inauguration of a road in Kanjirappuzha, Palakkad. The issue arose when the residents decided to conduct a public inauguration of the Chirakkalpadi road a day before the official event, which was scheduled to be inaugurated by Public Works Minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas. This move created tensions with CPI(M) workers.
CPI(M) members attempted to block the public inauguration event organized by the locals. Party leaders forcefully intervened to prevent the ceremony.
Following the scuffle, the police arrested one person who had arrived for the road inauguration. The arrested individual was a member of the local people's committee, a collective that includes people from various political backgrounds. The committee had earlier announced their plan to conduct a public celebration by walking through the newly constructed road.
As the event progressed, LDF workers arrived with a promotional march and allegedly attempted to physically confront the organizers of the public inauguration, escalating the situation. CPI(M) leaders insisted that no one other than the minister should inaugurate the road. This led to pushing and shoving between both sides in the area.
