No change in shackles, deportation continues; Third military aircraft carrying Indians to arrive in the U.S. today

The United States' third military aircraft carrying undocumented Indian immigrants is set to arrive in Amritsar tonight. This time, there will be 157 passengers on board. The second U.S. military aircraft, carrying 119 Indians, landed in Amritsar last night. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu arrived at Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport to receive them.

Their arrival at Amritsar comes amid controversies surrounding the selection of the city as the landing site. Among the passengers, 67 were from Punjab and 33 from Haryana, while others belonged to Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.

The first flight carrying 104 undocumented immigrants had arrived on February 5 in Amritsar, with 157 passengers on board.

The deported individuals included four women, two minors—one of whom was a six-year-old girl. Sources indicate that the majority of those deported were between the ages of 18 and 30.
