Murder Planned Using Stolen Electricity in Alappuzha
In a shocking case from Punnapra, Alappuzha, a man was electrocuted to death using a trap set with stolen electricity. Investigations revealed that the electricity used for the crime had been illegally tapped from the power supply. The accused had been stealing electricity for three months by installing a special bypass connection to the meter.
Following a complaint from the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), the police registered a case under non-bailable sections of the Electricity Act. According to KSEB, the accused had stolen electricity worth ₹22,000.
The prime accused, Kiran, an electrician, had allegedly set up an electric trap using a live wire behind the house to execute the murder. The case involves Kiran, his parents, Kunjumon and Ashamma, as the accused. The motive, according to Kiran’s statement, was the shame caused by his mother’s relationship with another man.
