19-Year-Old Arrested for Assaulting Minor After Fake Marriage in Aranmula

A 19-year-old man was arrested by Aranmula police for allegedly deceiving a 17-year-old girl into believing they were married and then sexually assaulting her. The accused, Sijin Shibu (19) from Cherukol, Kozhencherry, was taken into custody.

The incident dates back to May 25, 2023, when the accused reportedly tied a yellow thread around the girl's neck on the way to a temple, convincing her that they were married before assaulting her. The crime came to light after the victim, currently residing at Konni Entry Home, provided her statement to the Women's Cell Sub-Inspector, V. Asha.

Following her statement, the Aranmula police registered a case and launched an investigation. The victim’s statement was also recorded in court. The accused was eventually tracked down and arrested from Kurangumala. The investigation, led by Aranmula Police Inspector V. S. Praveen, included a team of officers: SI Vishnu, SCPOs Pradeep, Tajudeen, Anil, Umesh, and CPOs Jithin, Vishnu, Vishnu Vijayan, and Salman.
