Man Arrested for Assault After Being Questioned Over Public Drinking and Misbehavior in Pathanamthitta
A man was arrested by Pathanamthitta police in connection with an attack that took place after being confronted for public drinking and misbehavior near a residence. The prime accused, Vimal (23), a resident of Chirakkonil, Chandanapally, was taken into custody. The second accused, Abhijith, had been arrested earlier.

The incident occurred last Saturday at around 9:30 PM in front of the house of Biju (54), near Vallikkodu UPS School. The accused were reportedly drinking and causing a disturbance near the house when Biju questioned their behavior. Enraged, the accused forcefully entered the house, locked the door from the outside, and assaulted Biju. His wife and 17-year-old son were also attacked during the altercation.

Vimal, the main accused, has a criminal history, including cases registered at Kodumon police station and the Pathanamthitta Excise Enforcement Unit for possession of cannabis intended for sale. He was also involved in a 2023 narcotics case registered at the Pathanamthitta police station.

The police investigation is ongoing.
