Mihir's death: Many parents rally against global school; Immediate legal action will be taken; Minister V Sivankutty

Parents Raise Allegations Against Ernakulam Thiruvaniyoor Global Public School Following Mihir Ahmad’s Death: Education Minister V. Sivankutty
Education Minister V. Sivankutty stated that several parents have come forward with complaints against Ernakulam Thiruvaniyoor Global Public School following the death of Mihir Ahmad. He mentioned that more ragging complaints have been received against the school.

"There have been severe instances of ragging at this school. One parent reported that their child was pushed to the brink of suicide due to harassment, and after the school authorities ignored the complaint, they had no choice but to transfer the child to another school," the minister added. He confirmed that the investigation into Mihir’s death is ongoing.

Every school in the state operates with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Kerala government, and all students studying in these institutions are considered the children of Kerala. The minister emphasized that if any school engages in activities that go against societal well-being, the government will take strict action, including legal amendments if necessary, to identify and prevent such incidents.

Meanwhile, the school authorities have denied the allegations related to ragging. The Department of General Education had directed Global Public School to submit its NOC for operation, but the school has not yet complied, the minister stated.

Mihir Ahmad (15), son of Salim and Rajna, residing at Choice Paradise in Thrippunithura, fell from the 26th floor of his apartment on January 15 and passed away. He was a ninth-grade student at Thiruvaniyoor Global Public School.
