Applicable to Both Migrants and Residents Alike; Violation of This Law Will Result in a ₹1 Crore Fine and Imprisonment

Strict Law in UAE: Applies Equally to Expats and Residents

The UAE has introduced a stringent law prohibiting the misuse of government logos. According to the new directive, violators will face a fine of up to 500,000 dirhams (₹1,18,96,960) and imprisonment for up to five years. This law has been implemented as part of efforts to regulate the use of official symbols. Reports had previously indicated that the UAE government was planning to impose strict measures against the misuse of Dubai Emirate and Dubai government logos.

The new law was issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It strictly prohibits the use of government logos for commercial purposes, such as advertising and product promotion. Additionally, any misuse of logos that harms their integrity or value is also banned.

Government logos cannot be used in activities that go against the values, principles, or ethics of the Dubai Emirate. However, organizations, events, documents, and seals may use the Dubai Emirate’s logo if they obtain special permission. The law permits the use of these logos only on government buildings, locations, events, activities, documents, websites, and applications related to the Dubai government and its agencies.

Furthermore, the law mandates that any unauthorized use of government logos must be reported to the authorities immediately. Expats living in Dubai must exercise caution and ensure compliance with this regulation to avoid legal consequences.
