A six-year-old girl, who insisted on getting new toys and clothes, had to endure her mother’s brutal punishment. The child was left starving for days. The incident took place in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

On Sunday, neighbors found the six-year-old searching for food scraps in a nearby garbage dump. The incident occurred in Sattenapalle, Palnadu district.

The child’s mother, a young woman named Madhavi, was arrested by the police in connection with the case. A neighbor informed Childline about the situation on Sunday. Madhavi, who is divorced, worked as a domestic helper to raise her six-year-old daughter. When the child demanded new toys and clothes, she was punished in a cruel manner by being denied food. Police revealed that Madhavi even locked her daughter inside a cupboard as part of the punishment.

A case has been registered against Madhavi under juvenile protection laws for assault and neglect. The police confirmed that the child has been moved to the care of the Child Welfare Committee.
