19-year-old found in critical condition inside a house in Chottanikkara; Mother alleges that her daughter was harassed by a male friend

The condition of the girl found unconscious inside a house in Chottanikkara, Ernakulam, is extremely critical. The 19-year-old was discovered semi-naked inside the house on Sunday. She is currently on a ventilator at a private hospital in Kochi.

A relative found the girl lying semi-naked and unconscious on the sit-out of the house with a shawl tightened around her neck. Ants were seen on the wounds on her hand. Focusing on the girl's male friend, the police investigation led to one person being taken into custody. CCTV footage had surfaced showing him arriving at the girl's house. The footage also shows someone dropping him off near the house on a scooter. Reports indicate that the person in police custody is a native of Thalayolaparambu.

Meanwhile, the girl's mother has come forward with serious allegations against the young man. She stated that her daughter was constantly harassed by her male friend and that previous attacks had left injuries on her face and body. Despite multiple warnings, he continued to visit their house. The mother also told the media that they had moved to a different house out of fear of her daughter's male friend's attacks.

"I was mostly unaware of the young man visiting our house. I only came to know about it later from the neighbors," the girl's mother said. She added that her daughter's male friend harassed and mentally tortured her by falsely accusing her of being involved with other boys. "I had warned my daughter that this relationship would be harmful," the mother stated. CCTV footage has surfaced showing the young man arriving at the house around 11 PM on Saturday night.

Puttenkurish DySP V.T. Shajan said that a suspicious person has been taken into custody and is being questioned. They are investigating whether he has any involvement in the incident. It is clear that the girl has suffered physical abuse. However, nothing can be said yet about the girl's health condition," the DySP clarified.

A case has been registered under the sections of rape and attempted murder based on the complaint of the girl's mother. Since this is a case with very serious allegations, a thorough investigation is being conducted. Scientific evidence is also being examined," the DySP added. The 19-year-old girl, who was previously a victim in a POCSO case, is currently receiving treatment in a critical condition.
