Trump Confident in Kash Patel for FBI Director, Dismisses Political Investigations

December 9:
While downplaying hopes of politically motivated investigations, President-elect Trump voiced his faith in Kash Patel as a possible head of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in his first interview with a network since losing the election in November. During his appearance on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker on NBC, Trump denied rumors that Andrew Patel would be ordered to look into individuals from his so-called "deep state" list. This list allegedly includes Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and former Trump officials Bill Barr and Christopher Wray.

Trump added that he will do what he believes is right and went on to say, "I think he probably has an obligation to do it" if he believes that a politician is dishonest or corrupt. Still, I will not give him any verbal instructions.

While speaking with the interviewer, Trump slammed special counsel Jack Smith, whom he accused of being "very corrupt," and members of the House committee that was looking into the attack on the Capitol on January 6th, calling them "political thugs" and "creeps." As for Trump himself, he accused them of acting too broadly in their investigation.

Truthfully, Trump said, they deserved to go to prison for what they did. But Trump said, "No, not at all," in response to a question about whether he would order the FBI or the Justice Department to punish his detractors. Regarding his plans to increase oil output in the United States, I believe they should examine it, but I will concentrate on drill, baby, drill. Furthermore, Trump reaffirmed his dedication to important campaign pledges, such as the massive deportation of undocumented immigrants, the pardoning of rioters from January 6, and broad tax cuts.
