Trump Intensifies Racial Attacks on Kamala Harris' Indian Heritage

Washington, DC, August 2 :
Former US President Donald Trump continued to cast doubt on Vice President Kamala Harris' racial identification, a subject he had raised the previous day. After claiming that Harris had "all of a sudden" chosen to identify as "a Black person" the day before, Trump posted a photo of Harris and her family wearing saris to his social media site. He said that the appreciation for Kamala Harris's warmth and respect of Indian heritage is great.

Trump wrote, "Thank you, Kamala, for the lovely picture you sent from many years ago!" when posting the photo on Truth Social. We deeply value your kindness, camaraderie, and devotion to your Indian heritage. The US presidential race is starting to center on Kamala Harris's ethnic origin. According to CNN, it became even more scrutinized following Trump's vicious personal assault on Harris, in which he claimed that, despite having "Indian heritage" for many years, she "turned black" relatively recently. Furthermore, he asserted that Harris "all of a sudden, made a turn" regarding her identity and desires to be recognized as a woman of color.

In response to an interviewer's question about why black voters might support a candidate with Trump's record of racist assaults on political opponents, Trump made the remarks before a Chicago gathering of black journalists. In his defense, he cast doubt on Harris' lineage.

She was simply advocating for her Indian background; she had always been of Indian descent. She wanted to be recognized as Black, and I didn't realize that until a few years ago, when she occurred to turn black. Therefore, I am confused; is she Black or Indian?" His statement was cited by CNN. "I respect either one, but she obviously doesn't, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden she made a turn and she went - she became a Black person," stated the man. "I think somebody should look into that too," said the speaker.

The parents of Kamala Harris are of Indian and Jamaican descent, respectively. It was the United States that her parents had emigrated to. As vice president, she breaks new ground as the first woman of color and the first Asian American. Harris would make history if she becomes the first female president of the United States if she wins the next elections.

Rep. Harris has spoken out against Trump's comments on her racial identity and the former president's comments, stating that the American people "deserve better."

She said that two views are before the nation now and that Trump and his campaign want to lead the nation "backwards."

Harris was speaking at a Houston fundraiser on Wednesday (local time), only hours after Trump made the accusation that Harris, who has been of "Indian heritage" for years, "turned black" a few years ago.

We are at a crossroads right now, with two competing national visions. Both were concerned with the past and the future, but one was more future-oriented. She assured the contributors that everyone in the room was striving for a better future.

Some people are attempting to drag us backwards while the rest of us are working to advance our country. Project 2025 is their extremist plan, and you might have seen it; it's 900 pages long," Harris said.

“We are not going back,” the US Vice President stated, continuing his attack on Trump. We all have a vivid memory of those four years, and today was just another reminder. Trump delivered his usual divisive and disrespectful speech at the National Association of Black Journalists' annual gathering this afternoon. The American people have a right to expect more from us. The American people want a leader that is honest and does not get angry and hostile when given facts, she continued. We need a leader who sees our diversity for what it is: a strength, not a weakness.
