US Deports 48 Indian Students Without Explanation, Claims Indian Government.

July 30 :
The Indian government has claimed that 48 students had been deported from the US in the last three years without a clear justification. The minister in charge of foreign affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, revealed the details during a session of parliament. When Lok Sabha member BK Parthasarathi of the Telugu Desam Party asked the government how many students the United States had deported in the previous three years and why, the minister revealed the data.

The latest data shows that 48 Indian students had been forcibly removed from the United States in the past three years. In his response, the Minister stated that the United States government does not publicly disclose the grounds for deportation.

Student visa termination leading to unlawful presence and eventual deportation  can occur for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: unauthorized employment, unauthorized withdrawal from classes, expulsion, suspension, and failure to report Optional Practical Training (OPT) employments.

In addition, Parthasarathi wanted to know what steps were being done and if the Indian government had any information on illegal migrants going abroad, especially to the United States. Singh responded by stressing that while there is a lack of concrete statistics, the federal and state governments are working hard to combat illegal migration and educate the public on how to travel legally and safely.
