Antony Blinken Joins Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting in Tokyo

July 29 :
At Monday's Quad Foreign Ministers conference in Tokyo, Japan, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with his Australian, Indian, and Japanese counterparts to discuss ways to enhance people's lives in the Indo-Pacific region. The United States Embassy in Australia remarked on X, "Climate resilience, humanitarian aid, regional investment, education, internet connectivity, maritime security." "Today, @SecBlinken joins fellow #Quad foreign ministers in Tokyo to work on issues that improve lives in the Indo-Pacific," according to the post.
Antony Blinken and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had a broad conversation on regional and global concerns, according to Jaishankar, who arrived in Tokyo on Sunday.

After meeting up with SecBlinken in Tokyo today, Jaishankar wrote about it on X. The bilateral agenda is making steady progress. Topics covered included both local and international concerns. Looking forward to tomorrow's Quad FMM. The importance of reliable international alliances in maintaining peace and security was stressed earlier in the day when EAM Jaishankar gave the opening remarks at the Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting.

Meeting together in Tokyo again is a pleasure. The last time we had a meeting of our four foreign ministers was in New York City a full year ago. During that time, we've crossed paths bilaterally or at other occasions. But under the guidance of our Sherpas, our systems have been in constant communication with one another. "There is a lot to discuss, agree upon, and plan for the future," he said.

According to Jaishankar, the Quad's dedication to the greater good goes beyond this area. Our shared dedication to improving the world has consequences well beyond our immediate area. So, it's crucial that we deepen our political understanding, broaden our economic alliances, collaborate more on technology, and become more comfortable with one another as people. He emphasized that our gathering should convey the quad's permanence, activity, and potential for growth.

It is challenging to ensure economic growth in these difficult times, according to Jaishankar."We are not living in easy times. Assuring and de-risking global economic growth is a huge challenge. Just as we advocate for trustworthy and open digital connections, supply chains are a special area of emphasis when it comes to resilience. The exponential growth of technology has opened up unprecedented possibilities for our daily lives, thoughts, and actions. We are, in a way, experiencing a re-globalization," he remarked.

In addition, the EAM emphasized that the Quad's combined efforts will guarantee protection from both natural and man-made disturbances. A free, secure, and affluent Indo-Pacific area is the shared goal of the four member states that make up the Quad, a diplomatic alliance. At this gathering, we will address current regional concerns through the provision of public goods, as well as regional and international challenges, with the goal of guiding future cooperation toward our common objective of an open and free Indo-Pacific region.
