Asian American and Pacific Islanders Group Endorses Manka Dhingra for Washington Attorney General

July 6 :
Senator Manka Dhingra of Washington State is running for state attorney general, and she has the support of the AAPI Victory Fund, the only national political action committee that aims to increase turnout among Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) and to back candidates from this demographic for public office. As chair of the Senate Law & Justice Committee, Dhingra, who is also the deputy majority leader of the State Senate, brings with her twenty years of expertise as a mental health specialist and prosecutor. By becoming the nation's first Sikh state senator, she made history when she was elected to the Senate in 2017.

The AAPI Victory Fund's endorsement is a tremendous honor. "The principles of perseverance, community, and hard work have molded my journey as an immigrant from India and a proud Sikh," stated Manka Dhingra. When I become attorney general of Washington state, I will bring these principles with me and fight for equality, fairness, and the rights of every Washingtonian. I am prepared to join you in making history as the first Asian American to serve as Washington State's attorney general and the first immigrant attorney general in the nation if elected, she continued.

Dhingra continues the trend of historically high numbers of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders seeking public office in 2022 and 2023, according to the fund's statement. Secretary Dhingra of the state embodies the immigrant and trailblazer narrative that countless members of the AAPI community share," stated Shekar Narasimhan, founder and chairman of the AAPI Victory Fund. She has made the most of her chances in life to advocate for social justice. There is no one else who I would be more willing to back as Washington State's next attorney general.
