Community Leader Jay Bhandari from Indian-American Community Appointed as National Delegate

The president of GOPIO Virginia and a prominent Indian-American activist, Jay Bhandari, will be attending the Democratic National Convention in Chicago as an official delegate. At the Democratic National Convention, which is set to take place from August 19th to the 21st, Joe Biden will be officially nominated as the party's nominee for president. It is widely believed that Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee for president in the next election. During the state convention in Richmond, Virginia, Jay Bhandari was elected as a national delegate by acclamation. Bhandari has received the endorsement of President Joe Biden.

According to Bhandari, the nomination would be finalized by the votes of Democratic delegates nationwide. Being a lifelong party member, he currently sits on the Virginia Democratic Party's Central Committee. Devi Ahilya University in Indore, India is where Bhandari earned her Master of Science degree in economics. Under his direction, GOPIO established a Virginia chapter in June 2010. Bhandari highlights the important role that Indian-Americans have had in strengthening ties between India and the United States, which has led to cultural, social, educational, and economic development in both countries.

There are a lot of highly successful, innovative, and influential persons of Indian origin in the United States, he said, adding that this includes GOPIO Virginia members.

In his own right, Jay Bhandari has become a prominent figure in the American and Indian communities. He has served on the boards of numerous social, charitable, and religious organizations, and he was once the vice chair and commissioner of the Virginia Public School Authority Board. His extensive background in business and industry spans over 25 years, and he has served on multiple government assignments in Madhya Pradesh and India. An additional director at Jaina, a former president of the Jain Society of South Florida, and a member of the Eye Foundation of America's Advisory Board are all things he is known for.
