US Expresses Support for Direct Dialogue Between India and Pakistan to Resolve Issues

June 21 :
On Thursday, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller stated that the US backs direct talks between Pakistan and India. Nevertheless, he did point out that the United States shouldn't decide on the scope, character, and pace of the situation; India and Pakistan should. During Thursday's press briefing, Matthew Miller made the comments.

"We value our important relationships with both India and Pakistan," Miller stated when questioned about the US's reaction to Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif thanking Indian PM Narendra Modi on securing a third term and analysts believing both leaders can start a peace process. We stand by our earlier statement that we favour open dialogue between Pakistan and India. However, those two nations, and not us, should decide on the scope, speed, and nature.

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, extended his congratulations to Modi on his oath-taking as prime minister of India on June 10. In an interview with X, Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Narendra Modi on becoming India's prime minister. The prime minister's statement in response to his X tweet read: "Thank you @cmshehbaz for your good wishes." No less than three times in a row, former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his reelection. The faith of the people in PM Modi's leadership, he continued, is seen in the BJP's performance in recent polls.

As Modi Ji (@narendramodi) takes the oath of office for the third time, please accept my heartfelt congratulations. The faith that the people have in your party's leadership is evident in its recent electoral victories. The chance to influence the fate of two billion people in South Asia lies before us; let us not let hatred replace hope," Nawaz Sharif said on X. Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to Nawaz Sharif's congrats by saying he was grateful for the message and that India has always been a strong advocate for progressive causes, peace, and security.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for the message from Nawaz Sharif MNS in an X post. Throughout its history, India has been a stronghold for progressive ideals, peace, and security. Our greatest concern will forever be the welfare and safety of our people.

Following Narendra Modi's oathtaking as India's prime minister for a third term on June 9, Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif sent congratulatory messages. Several members of Narendra Modi's cabinet were present at Rashtrapati Bhavan when President Droupadi Murmu swore in Modi and his associates.

At Rashtrapati Bhavan, the swearing-in ceremony was attended by Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth of Mauritius, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, and Vice President Ahmed Afif of the Seychelles. Nepal's PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' was among those in attendance. Narendra Modi is not only the longest-serving chief minister of Gujarat (from October 2001 to May 2014), but he also holds the distinction of being prime minister for two terms beginning in 2014.
