Mount Vernon, Virginia — Joined by former presidents Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, as well as Biden himself, they cautioned against Republican challenger Donald Trump's bid for a second term in office and helped raise $8.1 million for Biden's re-election campaign at a fundraiser in Virginia on June 18.

At his McClean, Virginia, home, the celebration was hosted by Terry McAuliffe, a former governor of Virginia. Just before the election in November, polling in the state had Biden and Trump almost neck and neck.

The Clintons and Biden hoped to draw a contrast between the current president and Trump, whom Clinton called as a "clear and present danger to our country and the world" on June 18.

Restoring reproductive rights and reducing expenses for Americans are among Biden's objectives for a second term, she added. The recent criminal charges of Trump, following his conviction by a New York jury for forging documents to conceal a payment to quiet a porn star prior to the 2016 election, were brought up by Biden in his remarks.

"It's clear (Trump is) worried about preserving his freedom," added Vice President Biden.

Fairfax County was the site of the fundraiser; it is the most populous county in Virginia and was a resounding victory for Biden over Trump in the 2020 presidential election. With 54% of the vote to 44% for Trump, Biden was likewise victorious in the state.

Bill Clinton stated on June 18 that winning Virginia is a must. "This election must be won by our party.

After elevating abortion to the forefront of their campaign platform last year, Democrats in Virginia were able to gain control of the state legislature.

Last weekend, the president appeared in California alongside former president Barack Obama for a star-studded cash haul, which was followed by the event on June 18.

Hollywood heavy hitters including Barbra Streisand, George Clooney, and Julia Roberts were in attendance at the event, which brought in over $30 million. According to the campaign, Biden and the Democratic National Committee brought in over $51 million in April, which is less than the $76 million claimed by Trump and the Republicans and lower than the $90 million recorded in March.

Overall, Democrats still have more money than Trump, and Biden's campaign had a lot more money than Trump's. According to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, 41% of registered voters would choose Trump in an election held today, while 39% would choose Biden.
