Biden Campaign Recruits Republican to Attract Anti-Trump Voters

Washington, June 8 :
An spokesperson from Joe Biden's campaign announced on June 6 that the former vice president is reaching out to Republicans who are not planning to vote for Donald Trump, the party's nominee for president, in November. According to the source, Austin Weatherford, who was previously the chief of staff to critic of Trump and former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger, has been hired as the national director of Republican engagement by the presidential campaign of the Democratic candidate for president.
"To head up outreach efforts to independents and moderate Republicans who know what a danger Donald Trump is to the country if reelected for a second term," the official said of Weatherford's hiring.
A closer rematch between Trump and Biden for the presidency is taking place than in 2020, according to polls conducted by Reuters/Ipsos. The data revealed that Biden's popularity among voters without a bachelor's degree is 10% lower compared to the same period in 2020. The race is currently deadlocked, according to most national opinion polls.
Republicans in Name Only, or "RINOs," are party members whom Trump frequently labels as disloyal if they do not align with his views. When asked for response, the Trump campaign remained silent. After former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley withdrew from the Republican primary in March, her supporters were courted by both the Biden and Trump teams. Though she did not publicly support Trump during his campaign, Haley has now stated her intention to vote for him.
According to the Biden campaign official, the vice president's team has spoken with Haley supporters and is planning a "seven-figure ad buy" to reach out to them. Very few presidential elections have seen such a huge number of Republicans supporting a Democrat.
At the same time, Trump is holding fundraisers in politically progressive San Francisco in the hopes of luring venture capitalists who were turned off by Biden's liberal views.
In this election season, the Republican Party has rallied around Trump following his numerous false claims about having defeated Biden in 2020 and the riot that he and his followers caused at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Of the House of Representatives select committee that looked into the attack on January 6, only Kinzinger and fellow US Representative Liz Cheney were Republicans. The party later censured both of them.
