Canadian and British Airways expand flight routes to India, enhancing travel options and connectivity

June 7 :
Starting in late October for the Winter 2024-25 season, Air Canada and British Airways will significantly boost their ticket capacity and travel options to India as part of their international network expansion.

New nonstop flights from Toronto to Mumbai, more service from Western Canada to Delhi via London Heathrow, and daily flights from Montreal to Delhi are all part of Air Canada's announcement of a 40% increase in seat capacity to India. The addition of these 25 weekly flights will make this airline's service to India the most extensive between Canada and India.

According to Mark Galardo, Air Canada's executive vice president of revenue and network planning, the country's strong and expanding family and trade ties with India make it an essential market for the airline.

Four weekly nonstop flights between Toronto and Mumbai will be operated by Air Canada beginning on October 27, 2024. After taking off from Toronto at 8:00 p.m. local time, Flight AC46 will touch down in Mumbai the following day at 9:45 p.m. local time. Aircraft AC47 makes its return journey from Mumbai around 11:45 p.m. local time. It gets into Toronto the next day at 6:45 a.m.

Flight AC850 leaves Calgary at 5:30 p.m. local time, arrives in London at 9:20 a.m. local time the next day, and continues to Delhi at 12:00 p.m. local time, arriving at 2:25 a.m. local time the following day via London Heathrow. The airline will also launch new daily seasonal flights from Calgary to Delhi. Returning to Delhi, flight AC851 leaves at 6:45 a.m. local time, arrives in London at 11:20 a.m., and then, at 1:25 p.m. local time, departs for Calgary, arriving at 3:30 p.m. local time the same day.

To further improve its service to India, British Airways will begin operating a new daily flight from Delhi to London Heathrow beginning April 20, 2025. British Airways now flies to five cities in India more frequently, increasing its weekly schedule to 63 flights.

British Airways' chief planning and strategy officer, Neil Chernoff, called this year a "milestone year" as the company celebrated 100 years of service to India. Flight BA136/137, which is brand new for this route, will take off from London at 4:30 PM local time and land in Delhi at 5:35 AM local time the following day. The flight back leaves Delhi at 7:40 in the morning and lands in London at 12:50 in the afternoon.

The millions of Indians already residing in the United Kingdom and Canada will greatly benefit from the increased flight services offered by Air Canada and British Airways. Improved travel alternatives and better connectivity will make visiting these nations easier, which will deepen India's ties with them.
