Indian student found in Los Angeles after being absent for seven days

June 6 :
Nitheesha Kandula, a 23-year-old student from Hyderabad, India, who had been reported missing in California last week, was located safely, according to police authorities, who made the announcement on June 4. Some time around May 28th, Kandula, a student at CSUSB, was reported missing.

California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) Police Chief John Guttierez took to social media to share an update. "The student who was reported missing on May 28, 2024, in Los Angeles—the one whose name is on this bulletin—has been found and is safe!" he announced on X.

The last time anyone saw her was on May 28 in Los Angeles, California, before she vanished. The missing person's report states that Kandula was operating a Toyota Corolla with a licence from California. The police asked anyone with knowledge regarding Kandula's whereabouts to come forward after she was reported missing. But even when her whereabouts were determined, questions linger about what caused her to vanish.

Although Nitheesha Kandula was found within a week while the police were keeping a close eye on her, other students have not been so fortunate. Mohammed Abdul Arfath, a 25-year-old student at Cleveland University from Hyderabad, was reported missing in March and was found dead in Cleveland in April. Also missing from Chicago since May 2 is 26-year-old Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi.
