US extends congratulations to Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, the new crown prince of Kuwait

On Monday, the US welcomed Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, the recently chosen crown prince of Kuwait, and expressed their anticipation of strengthening their friendship with the Saudi Arabian Gulf state. The United States extends its congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah, the newly appointed Crown Prince of Kuwait. "The US State Department made an official statement recognising His Highness Sheikh Sabah's extensive public service record, which includes tenures as Prime Minister and Foreign Minister," the announcement read.

Furthermore, the United States emphasised how highly esteemed its strategic alliance with Kuwait is. Maintaining a strong strategic alliance with Kuwait is important to the US. In the pursuit of a prosperous and peaceful Middle East region, we eagerly anticipate strengthening our friendship with Kuwait and His Highness Sheikh Sabah," the statement noted. The Kuwaiti government news agency  reports that Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Mubarak Al Sabah was named crown prince by the country's emir.

The Emir of Kuwait appointed Al Sabah six months after he assumed the throne, and few weeks after he suspended parliament, as reported by Khaleej Times. Over the course of his career, the 71-year-old Sheikh served as prime minister of Kuwait from 2011 to 2019 and as foreign minister till 2022.
