May 23 :
The city and county housing authority in Sacramento will receive $7,589,194 from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), according to Indian-American Representative Ami Bera.

Local public housing authorities were given the cash to help with public housing development construction, renovation, and modernization projects through HUD's Capital Fund Programme. Rep. Ami Bera issued a statement on May 22 expressing her pleasure at the announcement of this critical funding to assist with public housing initiatives in Sacramento County.

Public housing in our community will be improved and expanded with the help of this financing, so more people will be able to afford a safe place to live. We need to use all the resources we have to expand on these initiatives and guarantee that every American can afford a safe place to live.

Household spending on housing has increased as a percentage of income, but spending on necessities like food and clothing has decreased. The non-partisan publication Econofact reports that, on average, house prices have risen $5,000 year since 1984. Approximately 250,000 Americans were predicted to be without homes in 2023, with a quarter of that number concentrated in New York and Los Angeles, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
