Anniversary of South Asian Youth Action (SAYA): 28 Years of Making a Difference

May 21 :
At its annual gala on May 18, 2024, South Asian youngsters Action (SAYA.org) commemorated its 28th anniversary. This organisation has been fighting for educational justice and providing chances to underprivileged youngsters in New York City for nearly 30 years. According to the press release, the event took place at Tribeca 360° in New York City and drew around 400 attendees for a night of giving, motivation, and revelry. Attendees at SAYA's annual gala get an opportunity to celebrate the lives of community members who have made a difference by using their position of power for good. Sonny Kalsi, co-CEO of BentallGreenOak; Priya Parker, renowned author; and Anand Giridharadas, respected writer, were the recipients of these accolades this year for exemplifying these values.
Members of the SAYA board, including actress and author Sheetal Sheth, hosted the event.
Stories spoken by SAYA youth were the night's high point since they demonstrated the organization's influence on the lives of NYC youth. "The gala raised over $750,000—a testament to the generosity of attendees and supporters. These funds will go towards SAYA's programmes and initiatives—that strive to empower youth and nurture their personal, social, and academic development," the organisers said.
Everyone who came out to honour SAYA's legacy has my utmost gratitude for their extraordinary commitment. "The impact of our programming is evident in the powerful stories shared by our youth," stated Sonia B. Sisodia, Executive Director of SAYA, according to the press release. With the help of our donors and the remarkable $1 million grant from Mackenzie Scott, SAYA was able to make significant progress in its vital mission earlier this year. "Our combined efforts are making a significant and enduring difference in the communities where we live," stated Samidh Guha, chair of the SAYA board.
