Vin Gopal, a senator from New Jersey, has introduced a motion condemned as 'anti-Hindu sentiment'

May 11 :
State Senator Vin Gopal of New Jersey, who is of Indian American descent, has introduced a resolution denouncing bigotry and anti-Hindu bigotry. The resolution recognises Hinduism as one of the oldest and greatest religions in the world. Its 1.2 billion followers in over 100 nations practise a wide range of beliefs based on tolerance, compassion, and harmony. It recognises America as a shining example of promise and opportunity, drawing millions of Hindus from all over the world to seek a better life and the liberty to practise Hinduism, or "Sanatana Dharma."
It also pays tribute to the many ways in which Hindus in the United States have made important contributions to fields as diverse as healthcare, academics, engineering, energy, retail, commerce, and more.
A Hindu American Foundation (HAF) copy was filed with the appropriate legislative body. HAF is an advocacy group for the Hindu American community.
"This historic decision follows a series of violent incidents targeting Hindu temples, as well as rampant anti-Hindu bullying and intimidating rhetoric on university campuses, in the media, and on social media," HAF stated in an X post. "We applaud Sen. Vin Gopal's visionary action and express our gratitude for bringing attention to the problem of Hinduphobia and the critical need to address it head-on."
"Senator Vin Gopal, I must express my gratitude. In an X post, Suhag Shukla, co-founder of the HAF, praised you for being an unwavering supporter of religious freedom and pluralism, regardless of the circumstances, such as the ridiculous Teaneck resolution that called for the monitoring of Hindu groups or the current instance of extraordinary Hinduphobia.
Your confidence in HAF to hold the resolution copies is greatly appreciated. "We will ensure that this resolution is widely seen and celebrated," said the head of the oldest and largest professionally staffed Hindu American advocacy group in the United States. A bill to denounce Hinduphobia was submitted in the House of Representatives early last month by Indian-American Congressman Shri Thanedar. The resolution introduced by Thanedar highlights some important aspects, including the positive impact that Hindus have had on the US and the condemnation of "Hinduphobia" and anti-Hindu prejudice.
