Ashwin Ramaswami, a Democrat running against Shawn Still for Georgia State Senate District 48, reportedly has more than $280,000 in the bank. In the most recent filing period (February 1–April 30), according to a statement from Ramaswami's office, he raised more than $146,000, while Still only managed to raise $6,400. This amounts to a 22:1 fundraising advantage for Ramaswami.

What our community appreciates most, according to Ramaswami, is honesty and integrity in leadership, and the most recent reports provide additional proof of that. "Through the unprecedented momentum of our grassroots campaign, we will elect a leader who will prioritise the needs of our communities above all else. This includes providing adequate funding for schools, bolstering small businesses, educating us for future technology, and safeguarding the right to vote."

"The community will always remember Shawn Still's dishonesty and failure to lead when he attempted to reverse the votes of Georgians in 2020," Ramaswami chimed in. "Shawn Still obviously has the wrong kind of experience, and experience is key."

Supporters of Ramaswami's campaign include notable Democrats like Rep. Sam Park (Georgia Democratic Whip), Sen. Elena Parent (Chair of the Georgia Democratic Caucus), and former senator Jason Carter. Other groups that have lent their support include The Next 50, Leaders We Deserve, 314 Action Fund, South Asians for America, and REAL Action Inc.

Lucy McBath, a congresswoman from Georgia's 7th congressional district, has also endorsed Ramaswami's campaign.

Because of his experience and vision, I am supporting Ashwin Ramaswami's historic run for District 48 in the Georgia state senate. The greatest pickup chance for Democrats in Georgia is this seat, according to Congresswoman McBath, because it is the most competitive in the Georgia Senate. "Joe Biden's chances of winning Georgia hinge on this race, since it is one of the few competitive down-ballot contests this cycle."

Senator Shawn Still, who is running against Ashwin in 2020, is facing seven counts of indictment for his alleged role as secretary of a fraudulent elector conference where conspiracy theorists plotted to reverse Trump's 2020 election victory. Instead of an indicted conspiracy theorist, the citizens of SD 48 are seeking a leader. The safety of our democracy will always be Ashwin's first priority, McBath said.

If elected, Ramaswami—who holds degrees in both computer science and law—would make history as the first Gen Z state senator from Georgia and the first Indian-American to serve in that body.
