Reports emanating from New Delhi, India, - In response to US President Joe Biden's claim that "xenophobia" was limiting India's economic growth, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar strongly disagreed. During a round table discussion on May 3 held by an Indian newspaper, Jaishankar stated that India's economy "is not faltering" and that the country has a long history of being a welcoming community.

Because of this, we have the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which aims to provide opportunities for those facing difficulties. According to Jaishankar, we should welcome anyone who has a legitimate reason to come to India, citing a new rule that offers citizenship to immigrants who have escaped persecution in neighbouring countries.

Biden claimed on May 1 that migration has been beneficial to the US economy while claiming that "xenophobia" in China, Japan, and India was limiting growth in those countries' economies. You and many more like you are a big reason why our economy is booming. Why? “Because we welcome immigrants,” Biden stated during a fundraising event for his 2024 re-election campaign, which coincided with the opening of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Last month, the IMF predicted that the three biggest economies in Asia will experience a deceleration in growth in 2024 compared to the previous year. The International Monetary Fund predicted 2.7% growth for the US economy, which is little lower than 2.5% growth in the previous year. Economists generally agree that the influx of foreign workers is a key factor in the optimistic outlook.
