Both "While We Watched" by Vinay Shukla and "All That Breathes" by Shaunak Sen, two Indian documentaries, have been nominated for the esteemed Peabody Awards. On June 9, in the City of Angels in the USA, there will be an awards ceremony.

On April 23, the Peabody Awards Board of Jurors revealed its candidates, highlighting 41 deserving projects in several categories, such as Radio/Podcast, Public Service, Documentary, and News.

The moving "While We Watched" by Shukla features NDTV legend Ravish Kumar, while the thought-provoking "All That Breathes" by Sen explores the fascinating story of two Muslim brothers protecting black kites, an important part of New Delhi's ecology.

With press freedoms decreasing and misinformation rampant, "While We Watched" follows Kumar for two years as he navigates these challenges. Its captivating depiction of the Indian media landscape in the face of increasing government control helped it to acquire international praise after its publication. Taking home prizes at prestigious film festivals like Busan and Toronto,

In what the Peabody group calls a "timely depiction of a newsroom in crisis," Shukla's film captures Kumar's courageous fight against the assault of fake news, falling ratings, and subsequent budget cuts while maintaining the principles of truthful journalism.

HBO acquired Sen's film after it won more than 17 international honours, including one at Cannes. In the midst of societal instability and environmental toxicity, the two brothers' efforts to preserve the birds in a makeshift basement hospital are highlighted. Along with many others, the list included 20 Days in Mariupol and Bobi Wine: The People's President.
