AKMG New Jersey Chapter Inaugural Function and Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar.

Association of Kerala Medical Graduates (AKMG) launched its New Jersey chapter on Saturday, October 28, at Moghul Restaurant in Edison, New Jersey



The event was organized by the current president of NJ chapter and AKMG national vice president Dr. Elizabeth Mammen Prasad and President-elect of NJ Chapter Dr. Rekha Menon.


Newly elected officials were sworn in while Dr. Rekha Menon read the proclamation by NJ state senator Vin Gopal in the presence of AKMG national president Dr. Sindu Pillai. Dr. Pillai invited all New Jersey Chapter members to attend the national convention, to be conducted in San Diego, in August 2024.


Other elected officials are: Dr. Liza Protasis (Secretary), Dr. Joseph Prasad (Co-treasurer), Dr. Thomas Alapatt (Advisor), Dr. Sarah Easaw (Board of Trustees), Dr. Asha Menon (Board of Trustees).

The meeting started with a lighting the lamp ceremony by officials from AKMG and AAPI. AAPI president Dr. Anjana Samadar, Board of Trustee member Dr. Hetal Gore, former AAPI president Dr. Hemant Patel and Dr. Sumul Raval gave felicitations to the New Jersey Chapter.
 

They welcomed all New Jersey physicians to join AAPI. Dr. Thomas Alapatt explained the history of AKMG and gave an overview of the various humanitarian projects AKMG had initiated in the past. Dr. Celine Poulose, AKMG NY chapter President, also spoke.
 

Dr. Sarah Easaw gave the keynote speech on latest advances in breast cancer treatment. There was a Question and Answer session for the audience.


Prominent gastroenterologist and former AKMG president Dr. Pitchumony was among the attendees. Dr. Elizabeth Mammen Prasad welcomed the audience. Dr. Asha Menon gave the vote of thanks. Arjuna Menon was the emcee.
 

Songs from Renjit Pillai, Dr. Asha Menon, and Dr. Sindu Pillai provided entertainment. The theme of the event was based on Diwali, the festival of lights.
